Special Election for $2.5 Billion HFCD Bond

A Message from the President of The Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy

A special election will be held on August 25th for citizens to vote on the issuance of a Harris County Flood Control District $2.5 billion bond. The proceeds will be used for flood mitigation projects in the greater Houston area and be matched by FEMA and Army Corp of Engineers funds. A complete list of proposed projects can be found here: https://www.hcfcd.org/bond-program/

As President of the WWGC, I would like to put forth the position of our board members. We are 100% in favor of the issuance of the bond as it would result in increases in detention capacity and channel improvements in the Willow Waterhole Bayou watershed. This would include the building of new detention facilities on the Bayou at Fondren, we are also advocating for expanding the capacity of the Willow Waterhole Detention Facility by acquiring adjacent commercial properties that come up for sale. We are also strong supporters of any street drainage and Bayou conveyance improvements which help neighbors in the watershed.

HCFCD has a bond input form for citizens to enter comments and questions. We encourage you to go to the following link as soon as possible and express your support of Willow Waterhole Bayou watershed projects.
