Al Campbell

Bassist, Educator, Producer, Entertainment Director

MusicFEST is proud to again have Al Campbell as our Music Director. Al has served in this position since MusicFEST’s beginning 10 years ago.

Al was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Memphis. He graduated from Texas Southern University in Houston with a degree in Performance and Music Education—All Levels.

Al currently wears many hats in the music world. He is a co-founder and Entertainment Director of Willow Waterhole MusicFEST, Lecturer at the Houston Independent School District, Director of Music for the Summer Jazz Workshop/Jazz Ed Inc., Assistant Director of the Houston International Jazz Festival, Committee Member of the Houston Discovery Green and City Parks Entertainment Advisory Board, Entertainment Consultant for the Red Cat Jazz Festival, Jazz Consultant for KTSU Radio (Houston’s Texas Southern University), board member of the Houston Blues Society and the Houston Jazz Collective, and co-founding member of the Houston-based jazz group Sea Breeze. In the past, he served as a consultant for the STAX Music Academy in Memphis.

As a professional bassist, Al has performed and recorded with a wide range of musicians and vocalists worldwide. He has shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Joe Sample, The Crusaders, George Duke, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Boney James, Norman Brown, Everette Harp, Dwight Sills, David (Fathead) Newman, Najee, Kyle Turner, Frank Lacy, Texas Johnny Brown, Diunna Greenleaf, Bubbha Thomas, Conrad Johnson, Darrell Lavigne, Arnett Cobb, Chris Walker, Mark Simmons, Jason Moran, Chris Dave, and many others.

Today Al serves as a very busy and beloved music instructor at Parker Elementary and Westbury High School.

DJ Gilbert Sedeno, Jr.

MusicFEST welcomes for the first time DJ Gilbert Sedeno, Jr., who adds a new musical dimension to our exciting stage lineup. Gilbert has been a DJ since he was about 16 years old. He currently works as an audio engineer for the House of Blues and northwest Houston’s BFE Rock Club. He DJs both private and public events, including at City Center in Memorial and Town Square in Sugar Land. Gilbert owns his own sound company and works with Virtual DJ software and the Numark Mixtrack Pro FX DJ controller. He considers music his life and loves what he does for a living.
